Anyways, a while back I had always dreamed to do faceups and enhance the beauty of BJDs, and just recently, some lovely friends of mine let me start a new field in artistry by giving me much support and lending me their own dolls. I was touched, so I managed to gain the supplies needed and recommended by others who do professional face-ups and started from there. What are face ups? Face-ups are the painting and customizing of a BJD doll to enhance features(mainly the face), faceups (and body blushing) is done with mostly acrylics, watercolors, sealant, pastels, and other materials that seem necessary.

I believe that every doll has the potential in becoming a beautiful and unique doll in their own personal style. A face-up can spark a new personality within a doll, through just getting a new coating of blush and paint or through just even a fresh cleaning. It is also viewed from my beliefs that art comes in different forms of media and to perceive such forms of art is my greatest pleasure to be a part of. This is true, this is the soul within the shells, this is the extremes of aestheticism, this is Aesthetic13.

FAQ

What are these dolls in your photos?
~These dolls are ball-jointed dolls. Google is your friend.

What materials do you use for your face ups?
~I use what all the experts recommend is the most safest for your doll.

For the cleaning process:
90% Isopropyl alcohol or Windsor & Newton Brush Cleaner & Restorer
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
Generic brush cleaner

For the sealing process (so that the painting process does not stain your doll):
Almighty Mr. Super Clear, usually Flat. I spray outside with a mask and try to cover all areas that need to covered for the client's requested faceup.

For the main painting and blushing process:
Liquitex Soft Body Acrylics
Liquitex Basic Heavy Body Acrylics
Rembrandt Pastels
Golden Acrylic Flow Release
Liquitex Slow-dri Blending Medium

For touch ups and glossing:
Liquitex Gloss Medium and Varnish

How long have you been doing face ups?
About a year or so. I've been graciously been given the opportunity thanks to my friends and those that support me.

Do you take your own photos?
Yes and I am still aiming to improve my photographs. ^^

Do you really sew your own clothes for your dolls?
Yup! And I'm still learning, but I love making my own designs. I usually plan out an idea, cut out my own pattern, and try to sew it right. XD Building a character from scratch is a real challenge, but I believe it's a wonderful way to gain experience.

Can you do my doll's face up?
I currently don't commission BJD face ups or designs from those that live outside my local area, only those that live in my area or those that I know personally or can get to locally are people who I can commission face ups on their dolls. I currently just don't have enough time or stamina to maintain an actual BJD faceup or clothing shop, only as a hobby and learning experience for now. Thank you for your understanding~
