Description

After hearing the news in March that the main musical guest of A-kon 22 was D, I knew I had to go to the convention in celebration of my birthday and to also do something special in celebration of D's first US debut. So with the anime convention approaching fast after I just I returned home from moving around, I took on the project of making Asagi's "7th Rose" era costume for my doll, Draven.

I made this in an about a week, prior to the convention. Tulle, red fabric, lace, leather, and grommets everywhere. I was completely worn out, working late into early mornings, but I finished it in time of the convention.

At the convention, I was dressed up in my Hizaki "Ascendead Master" cosplay and my doll was then dressed up as Asagi from D. Meeting D and other jrock fans was like a dream. I have never seen D live in concert before except on DVD, so I was expecting them to perform great, but not absolutely perfect. I missed the encore in order to fall in line early for their autograph session. Sadly, I didn't bring my doll with me, in fear of him becoming damaged during the concert...and I was too far in the back during D's Q&A to show it to them. So even though I wasn't able to show my doll to D, I was still happy to just even be in the same building as D. ^^ D is truly a wonderful band. Hiroki was a very calm, but he gave a gentle and warm impression. I remember Ruiza was really happy and excited about meeting fans. Both Asagi and Hide-zou were very cool and serious because when I greeted them, they would reply "Yo~". And Tsunehito was just beautiful and had an adorable smile. I could go on, but meeting and seeing them live still feels like it was just a dream to me.

Dollakon was also at A-kon 22 and this outfit won in the "Best in Sewing" category at the Costume Contest event!

Anyways, I'm truly happy how his costume turned out. There would've been more variety in the poses, but I was too scared to move Draven because he wasn't on a stand, it was windy and hot at the forest, and he never holds poses well. Even though he doesn't have Asagi's rose tattoo, thorns on his left hand, or the velvet glove on his right hand, I feel like he portrayed Asagi well. I tried my best in hoping to capture the imagery of the costume as well as the "7th Rose" PV.

I just wanted to mention how much I appreciate everyone that has supported me and my endeavors so far with :+fav: and comments! To see all those :+fav:, :+devwatch:, and comments even though I haven't been on here for a while made me tear up. I will definitely work harder even more to show my work! ^_^ I had a great time meeting people at A-kon 22 and at the Dollakon Costume Contest event!

So anyways, please look forward to my upcoming pieces!

Until we meet again, adieu~
